Mary P. Garofalo Mary P. Garofalo, 87, a resident of the Rome Center (Stonehedge), passed away Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at the center. She was born in Oneida, N.Y. on August 19, 1923, daughter of the late Samuel and Agnes Senalli Vagnoni. Mary was a graduate of Rome Free Academy. In 1946, she married Arthur F. Garofalo in St. John the Baptist Church. He passed away December 14, 2004. Mary was a former employee of Griffiss Air Force Base and retired from Goldberg's as a credit manager. Mrs. Garofalo was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and a volunteer for Rome Memorial Hospital Snack Bar. Surviving are a daughter, Patricia E. Gehman and her husband, Gene, Rome; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert and Charlotte Garofalo, Gouverneur, N.Y. and Richard Garofalo, New York City; a grandson, Nicholas P. Garofalo, Syracuse. Also surviving are a brother, Anthony Vagnoni, Syracuse; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and many special friends. She was predeceased by two brothers, Bernard Vagnoni and Samuel Vagnoni, Sr. The family wishes to thank Drs. Poonati and Potlurri, and their staffs. A special thanks is extended to the staff of the Rome Center whose devotion to Mary was tireless. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 8:15 a.m. from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., and at St. John the Baptist Church at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
