Gaetano "Guy" Carmen Filoso Gaetano "Guy" Carmen Filoso, 82, of Rome, went to meet his Savior on Sunday, January 23, 2011. He was born in Rome, N.Y. on June 10, 1928, son of the late Natale and Elizabetta Bonelli Filoso. Guy was a Korean War Veteran, serving from 1951 to 1956. He was awarded the Korean Service Medal, with three bronze stars, and the United Nations Service Medal. Guy married the former Mary Raney. She passed away in 1963. Mr. Filoso was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and was an avid bowler and roller skater. He retired from Rome Cable and was a former employee of Price Chopper. Guy loved people. He had a sharp memory and was like the "greeter" at Price Chopper when he worked there. Surviving are a son, Larry J. Filoso and his wife Tabitha, North Carolina; grandchildren, Christopher Filoso, Kaylee Filoso, Shanell Kilcoyne and Jessica Berry; great grandchildren, Keara, Kristina, Logan, Laila and Michael. Also surviving are a sister, Anna Anania, and a brother, Louis Filoso and his wife Mary, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary, and a nephew, David Anania. Special thanks to everyone at Stonehedge Nursing Home for their loving care and also the staff of ICU at Rome Memorial Hospital for their compassion and hard work. We just can't thank people enough. Thank you to Dr. Mohammed Seedat. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St.
