Elmer "Sooky" J. Del Vecchio Jr. Elmer J. DelVecchio Jr., 79, of Rome, passed away Sunday, February 27, 2011 at Syracuse Veterans Administration Hospital with his family by his side. He was born in Rome, NY on November 22, 1931, son of the late Elmer and Bertha Reczko DelVecchio Sr. Elmer attended Rome Schools. He served with the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. On August 9, 1958 he married Dorothy Ann Anderson in Transfiguration Church. Elmer was a member of Transfiguration Church. He was a truck driver for many years, retiring from Glenor Carting in 1990. Surviving besides his wife Dorothy of 52 years are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Lisa and David Latour of Brewerton, NY, Lori and James Malinowski, Richfield Springs, NY, Lynn DelVecchio, Rome, two beloved granddaughters, Allyson Latour and Holly Malinowski. Also surviving are two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Al DeNigro, Utica, and Dorothy and Greg Procopio, Rome, two sisters-in-law, Connie Bertrand and Carol and her husband Eugene Klepadlo, all of Rome, and several nieces and nephews and special friends, the John Wuthrich family. He was predeceased by a daughter Ann Marie DelVecchio, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Sam and Stella Bosco. The family would like to express a special thank you to Drs. Frank Paollozi, Linda Schicker and Apparao Poonati. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at Transfiguration Church, where relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Transfiguration Church. Arrangements are by the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St.
