Obituary of David L. Spoon

David L. Spoon David L. Spoon, 60, of Floyd, passed away Monday, March 21, 2011 at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center, New Hartford. He was born in Rome, N.Y. on September 19, 1950, son of Larry P. and Elizabeth LaRose Spoon. Dave attended Rome Schools and served with the U.S. Marine Corps in Vietnam. On June 21, 1975, he married Seda Kane. David was owner of Bor Fuel Oil in Floyd. He was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps League, Stittville V.F.W. and American Legion. Dave was an avid hunter and enjoyed Stock Car racing. Surviving besides his wife, Seda, are a daughter and son-in-law, Christina and Christopher Fear, and a son and daughter-in-law, David and Bree Spoon, all of Floyd; his mother, Betty Spoon, Rome; six grandchildren, Danielle Russell, Skyler Fear, Christopher Fear, Starr Fear, David Spoon and Victoria Spoon. Also surviving are two sisters and brothers-in-law, Cheryl and Tom Kegley, Mary and Chris Irvine, all of Rome; a brother and sister-in-law, Timothy and Laurie Spoon, Holland Patent; two sisters-in-law, Sandy Spoon, Rome, and Nancy Spoon, Tennessee; and several nieces, nephews and cousins, including Jim and Gayle; along with several friends, Charles, Bruce, Gary, Frank and Joan. He was predeceased by his father, Larry Spoon, and two brothers, William Spoon and Paul Spoon. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St. Burial will be in Floyd Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m.
