Obituary of Mary DePalma Wilson

Mary DePalma Wilson Mary Louise DePalma Wilson, a lifelong resident of Rome, NY, went to be with the Lord and her family on Thursday, May 19, 2011. She was born in Walton, N.Y., daughter of the late James and Concepta Dursi DePalma. Mary was well known in the area as a caretaker/baby sitter for many local families. She traveled to Arizona, Florida and Japan with her husband, Jim. Her stories were numerous and endless and left you laughing or crying. She had many interests, one of which was singing and she was known as the Mae West of East Rome in her younger years. She was a fantastic cook and baker. Some of her specialties were her pizza, eggplant Parmesan and cream puffs. Mary is survived by her loving family, her daughter, Ladonna Allamon, her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Roberta Wilson, all of Rome; grandchildren, Dawn Allamon, Scott Allamon, Amy and her husband Carm Grasso, Dennis Jr. and his wife Andrea Wilson, and Lisa Wilson; and great grandchildren, Ken Rooney, Isabella Grasso, Julia Grasso, Mae Wilson, Nora Wilson, Ryan Wilson and Owen Wilson; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, James, her father and mother, James and Concepta DePalma, brothers, Bishop Joseph DePalma, Louis DePalma, Anthony DePalma, and sisters, Jennie DePalma, Florence Corradino and Rose Greco. The family would like to give a special thanks to Drs. Patrick, Goel, Moza and Albert, as well as the staff of 2 East at Rome Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 23, 2011, at 8:15 a.m. from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., and at St. John the Baptist Church at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. Please consider donations to the Residential Healthcare Facility at Rome Memorial Hospital, 1500 N. James St., Rome, N.Y. 13440, where she had been a resident since 2001.
