Jean A. Spinella Jean A. Spinella, 97, of Rome, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2011, at Rome Memorial Hospital, after a short illness. She was born in New York City on June 24, 1914, the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Melograne. On February 17, 1935 she married her life long love, James Spinella. He left her side on September 9, 1999. Jean was a loving, caring mother and grandmother. Always ready with some coffee and a baked good for visitors. Many people still talk about her amazing cookies to this day. She was a fabulous cook, feeding people was a great pleasure for her. She was a kind, gentle woman who looked for a bit of good in everyone she met. The twinkle in her eyes when seeing her grandchildren was unmistakable. She loved her family more than anything. Surviving are son John Spinella and his wife Emma, Lee Center; granddaughters Jean Spinella and her partner Rob Miller, and Suzi Murchison and her partner Mike Holbrook; great-grandsons Jason Neff and his wife Anne, and Jon Neff and his wife Jennifer; great-great-granddaughter Michela Neff. She will be missed dearly by her 2 feline companions, Pooh and Tigger, whom she doted on, and her canine visitor, Dolci, whom she spoiled. She was predeceased by five brothers, Anthony, Dominick, Joseph, Raymond and Nicholas Melograne; and a sister, Angelina Wagner. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rome Humane Society, P.O. Box 4572, Rome, NY 13442-4572. Arrangements are by the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St.
