Ida M. Humphrey Ida M. Humphrey, 90, of Rome, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica. She was born in Rome, N.Y. on September 16, 1920, daughter of the late Angelo and Maria Giarrusso Polce. Ida graduated from Rome Free Academy. On June 5, 1943, she married Robert C. Humphrey in St. John the Baptist Church. He passed away in October 1990. Ida was a former employee of General Cable. Mrs. Humphrey was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Surviving are a loving sister and best friend, Rose Valentine, Rome; a cherished nephew, Rocco Valentine and wife, Cheryl, Rome; other nephews, Robert Polce and wife, Josephine, Rome, Nicholas Polce and wife, Carol, Hinckley; two great nephews, Ralph "Rafe" Valentine and wife, Karen, Rome, Eric Steven Valentine and wife, Nicole, Liverpool; and a great niece, Alison Valentine, Rome; eight great great nephews and nieces, Brent, Brittany Rose, Madison, Nicholas, Nathan, Emil, Dereck and Callia Rose; also many cousins. Also surviving are brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jack and Ann Olney, Westernville, Beverly Beckley, Rome, William Smith, Massachusetts, Ron and Mona Smith, Florida. She was predeceased by two brothers and a sister-in- law, Nicholas and Antoinette Polce, Joseph Polce, and a special sister, Concetta Garcia, and a special brother-in-law, Ralph "Ducky" Valentine. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:15 a.m. from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., and at St. John the Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7 p.m.
