Palmera P. Riolo Palmera P. Riolo, 71, of Rome, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2011 at Rome Memorial Hospital. She was born in Rome, NY on March 17, 1940, daughter of the late Joseph and Mabel Sebastian Catello. Palmera graduated from Rome Free Academy, Class of 1958. On May 7, 1960, she married William J. Riolo, Sr., in St. John the Baptist Church. He passed away October 31, 2005. Mrs. Riolo retired from Griffiss Air Force Base. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Palmera enjoyed playing cards and puzzles, and in her earlier years, roller skating and ice skating. She was a former member of Transfiguration School PTO. Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Christine and Paul Dubay, Cape Elizabeth, ME.; Felicia and Gary Burak, New Hartford; Dianne and Joseph Sherman, Rome; two sons and a daughter-in-law, William J. Jr. and Lisa Riolo, Panama City, FL; Vincent P. Riolo, Rome, with whom she resided; three grandchildren, Vincent and Nicholas Dubay and Briana Sherman; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Margaret Mull, Dorothy and Gene DePasquale, Crystal and Ted Dombrowski, all of Rome, and Felicia Montross, North Bay; and a brother, Donald Catello, Oriskany. Also surviving are several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, including a special sister-in-law, Anna Rose Catello, Clinton, as well as many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Ernest Catello and Paul Catello Jr. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of ICU and social workers at Rome Memorial Hospital, and Drs. Potluri and Moza. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:00 am at St. John the Baptist Church, with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating, where relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., on Friday from 4-7 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Visiting Nurse Association, 91 Perimeter Road, Rome, N.Y. 13440. .
