Louis A. 'Lou' Marocchi, Sr. On October 28, 2011, Lou went to be with the Lord. His life ending the way it was lived, with dignity and courage. After a long illness, the battle was lost, but not without a fight. Born on November 30, 1937 on the family farm in Westmoreland, he learned early on what hard work was, something that defined him throughout his life and career. Lou attended Westmoreland schools, until his enlistment in the US Navy on his seventeenth birthday. Serving from 1954-1958 aboard the USS Ticonderoga. In 1958, he married the former Patricia French in Woodland, California, a loving union of 53 years they shared with their four children. Lou began his career as a professional truck driver. He logged countless miles in every conceivable condition to provide for his young family. In 1962, he became an owner operator. He spent many years hauling for Concrete Delivery in Rome, NY, where he earned the respect of his fellow drivers and customers, and developed life long friendships. In 1984, Lou founded Marocchi Trucking Co. Inc., into which he poured his heart and soul, working tirelessly to create what is now one of the most respected trucking companies in the area. He took great pride that his children worked with him in this endeavor. Lou was of the Roman Catholic faith and also very proud of his Italian heritage. Surviving besides his wife Patricia, are two daughters and sons-in- law, Tina and Carter Jackson, and Connie and Joseph Schick, all of Deansboro; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Louis A. Jr. and Michelle Marocchi, and James Marocchi and companion Billie Jo Schuck, all of Westmoreland; nine grandchildren, Carrie Jackson, Derek Jackson and his wife Meghan, Lauren Jackson, Justin Dawes and his wife Ashley, Angela Dawes, Jacob Childress and his wife Michelle, Amy Seabrook and her husband Matt, Ben Marocchi, and Nicole Becker; nine great- grandchildren, Carter, Delaney, Dominic, Vincent, Hunter, Mason, Camryn, Eric, and Aryana. Also surviving are three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Rose and Leo Capoccia, Ft. Pierce, FL.; Susan Carello, Sylvan Beach; Gilda and Bill Law, Tyler, TX; along with brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Tom and Betty French, Woodland, CA; Dina French, Napa, CA; Darrell and Linda French, Madill, OK; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Louie and Lucy Marocchi, a brother Arthur Marocchi, brother-in-law Larry Carello, father-in-law and mother-in-law Dale and Gladys French, sister-in-law Deborah French, a niece Peggy Capoccia, and two nephews, Ron Capoccia and John Dykhoff. The family would like to express a special thank you to the critical care unit at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare Center. Military funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:15 a.m. from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home Inc., 218 W. Court St. and at St. John the Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of ones choice.
