Anthony J. Ferris Anthony J. Ferris, 88, of Rome, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, at Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born in Utica, NY, on May 21, 1923, son of the late Charles and Jenny Tadie Ferris. Anthony was a graduate of St. Francis DeSales School. He proudly served in the US Army, landing on Omaha Beach, Normandy, and was awarded the European- African-Middle Eastern service medal, Good Conduct medal, and World War II Victory medal. On September 18, 1954 he married Ersilia "Ceil" Lorenzini in St. John the Baptist Church. Mr. Ferris was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Rome Knights of Columbus, and VFW Rome Post #2246. Surviving besides his loving wife Ceil, are a beloved son and daughter-in-law Ned and Lynda Ferris; precious grandchildren Michael, Hope, and Neil. Also surviving are two special sisters and a brother- in-law, Freda and Sidney Owens, Clark Mills; Dolores Legare and her son David, New Hartford; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Ronald and Cleo Ferris, Chestertown, MD; and Charles Ferris, New Hartford; nine nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Daniel Reed. He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Anna Ferris and Mary Lou Abode; and a brother-in-law Leo Legare. The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. Potluri and his staff Candy and Debbie. Also a special thank you to everyone at Rome Memorial Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating, where relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., Rome, on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.
