Carmella D. Ruane Carmella D. Ruane, 66, of Rome, NY passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011 after a long illness. She was born in Rome on August 31, 1945, the daughter of Fiore and Josephine DeCosty. She graduated from Academy of Holy Names in 1963. On June 16, 1990 Carmella was united in marriage to William Ruane in St. Peter's Church. Carmella was employed at Rome Savings Bank for several years, working her way up from the teller line. She retired from the bank in 2005 and later served as a substitute teaching assistant in the Rome City School District. Carmella was a member of the St. Peter's Church in Rome. She is survived by her beloved husband, William Ruane, of Rome; son Francis DiClemente of Syracuse; daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Chris McGowan of Holland, OH, and her two grandchildren, Paul and Elizabeth McGowan of Holland, OH; stepson Dirk Ruane and Donna Kelly of Rome; stepdaughter Jennifer Ruane of Asheville, NC; one sister, Sister Carmella DeCosty, of Venice, FL; and two brothers, Frank DeCosty of St. Peters, MO, and Fiore DeCosty and wife Diane of Jacksonville, FL. Also surviving are several nephews. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter's Church with the Rev. Phillip Hearn officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home Inc., 218 West Court Street on Sunday from 3-6 p.m.
