Jennie Jackson, 80, of Rome, passed away Wednesday, December 24, 2008 at Roe Memorial Hospital. She was born in Rome, NY on March 15,1928, daughter of the late Agnes Cicconi Fontana and James C. Fontana. Jennie graduated from Rome Free Academy. On June 7, 1952 she married David J. Jackson Sr. in St. John the Baptist Church. After working as a legal secretary for several law officies in the Rome Area, she retired in the mid-80s to care for her ailing mother. Jennie was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and its Marion Guild. Surviving besides her husband, David; are a daughter, Susan M. Jackson, and a son-in-law, Michael Sobrado, both of Rome; a son, David J. Jackson Jr. and his wife, Annette Alvarez Jackson, of Rochester; four grandchildren, Brian A. Loiodice and his wife Heidi, Michael Loiodice, all of Rome, Emily Jackson and Zachary Jackson, both of Rochester; a great granddaughter, Lily Loiodice; an aunt and uncle; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by a sister, Gloria DeMichele, and a brother and sister-in-law, Alfred and Prudence Lombino Fontana. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:45 a.m. from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home Inc., 218 W. Court St., and at St. John the Baptist Church at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Home, 1615 Champlin Ave., New Hartford, NY 13413. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
