John A. Rodriguez, Sr. John A. Rodriguez Sr., 82, of Rome, passed away on Tuesday April 17, 2012 at Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born in Rome, NY on May 23, 1929 son of the late Antonio and Stella Consilio Rodriguez. John attended Rome schools. He served with the US Army from 1946 to 1948. On April 22, 1950 he married Emma Facciolo in St. John the Baptist Church. She passed away September 7, 2003. John was the former owner of Workman Garage and Exxon. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Rome DAV, and former member of the Toccolana Club and Rome Elks Club. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, John Jr. and Diana Rodriguez; three grandchildren, Michelle Stagner, John M. and Shannon Rodriguez, Renee Rodriguez and Brandon, all of Rome; four great- grandchildren, Emma, Matthew, Christopher, and Tyler. Also surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Anthony "Rod" and Lorraine Rodriguez, Redding, CA; a sister Virginia Bromley, Rome; sisters-in- law, Yolanda Facciolo, Catherine Facciolo, Louise Facciolo, Kay Saporito; several nieces and nephews; and many special friends. He was predeceased by two sisters and brothers-in-law, Connie and Louis Cretero, Theresa and Jewel Smith; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joseph "Scud" Facciolo, Gregory "DA" Facciolo, Nick "Fox" and Gloria Facciolo, Tony Facciolo, Frank Facciolo, Joseph Bromley, Mario Guerrieri, Albert and Mary Marrello, Nick and Pauline Sanzone and Grace Rodriguez. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 8:15 a.m. from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., and at St. John the Baptist Church at 9:00 a.m. with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 100 Lamond Court, Utica NY, 13502 or American Heart Association, 120 Lamond Court, Utica NY, 13502. The family would like to express a special thank you to Sandy Facciolo, Rome Dialysis Unit, and the staff of Rome Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion.
