Obituary of Quintus J. Pinti

Quintus 'Quinnie' J. Pinti Quintus "Quinnie" J. Pinti, 97, of Rome, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, December 26, 2012, at Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born in Rome, NY on January 26, 1915, son of the late Carlo and Theresa Ferrare Pinti. Quinnie attended Rome schools. He served with the US Army during WWII, and he was in the second wave of the Normandy Invasion. Quinnie was a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, and Honorable Service Lapel Button WWII. Quinnie married Virginia Mosca, who died in 1951. On April 11, 1953 he married Amelia Diaspro in St. Peter's Church. Mr. Pinti was a former employee of General Cable. He and his wife Amelia ran a grocery store, retiring in 1978. He loved the Yankees, watching and reading about sports. In his youth he was a well-rounded gymnast, loved swimming and basketball. Still today may people remember "The Small Grocery Store" on Madison Street where "Quinnie," as he was known by all the neighborhood children, used to give out free candy. Quinnie was a member of St. Peter's Church, Knights of Columbus, and life member of Disabled American Vets and VFW Rome Post #2246. Surviving besides his wife Amelia, are a daughter and son-in-law, Carla and Wayne Cacciatori, Rome; a son, Daniel Pinti, Tampa, FL; a granddaughter, Jenna and her husband Warren Frame, Rochester, NY; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Madeline Rogers and Caroline Gymburch; five brothers, Robert "Al," Harry, James, Dante and William Pinti. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc, 218 W. Court St., and at St. Peter's Church at 11:00 a.m., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.
