'Gramma Wanda'
Wanda June Valentine, 87, of Rome, passed away early Saturday morning, December 29, 2012, exactly one year to the date of her beloved husband Anthony. She was born on September 7, 1925, daughter of the late Cleo Noel and Nellie Alta Cooper Powell, in Excelsior Springs, MO. On September 30, 1944 she married Anthony "Blondie" Valentine,
a blessed union of 68 years. Wanda retired from Rome State School, and was a member of St. John the Baptist Church.
Wanda leaves behind three sons, Anthony (Celeste) Valentine, Sauquoit, Cleo (Cookie) Valentine, Boonville, and Merland Valentine, Floyd. Also surviving are six grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two great-step-grandchildren; a sister-in- law, Rose Valentine, Rome; and several nieces and nephews. Wanda will also be greatly missed by her extended family, Nancy Mallek and Uncle Wally LaBuz. She was predeceased by her parents; husband Anthony; sister and brother-in-law, Irma and Harold Baird; baby brother, Merland Powell; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law Ralph Valentine, Nick and Dolly Chunchick.
The family wishes to express a very special thank you to Rome Memorial Hospital ICU, Jordan, the gals, and also 2 East nurses Brandon, Magda, Nora, and Chrissy. Special thanks to Dr. Sadat and Dr. Potluri.
Funeral services will be private. There are no calling hours. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St.
