Dorothy DeLutis Kopchik
Dorothy DeLutis Kopchik, 86, of Phoenix, AZ passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 6, 2013, after a long illness. Born in Rome, NY on June 1, 1926 to the late Nicholas and Antoinette Stewart DeLutis, she was the fourth of six daughters. Dorothy graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1944 and was a member of the National Honor Society. After graduation, she worked at Revere Copper and Brass. Dorothy married Michael Kopchik Jr. on June 14, 1952 in St. John the Baptist Church. Together they shared over forty-two years of marriage until Mike's death on February 24, 1995. An active member of the Genetaska Club, she was also a volunteer at the Rose Hospital. Dorothy was a resident of Rome until 2001, before moving to Rockville, MD and later Phoenix.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Mary and Peter Vedder, Phoenix, AZ; her son and daughter-in-law Jeff and Lisa Kopchik, Bethesda, MD; her grandchildren: Emily Vedder, Michael Vedder and Aaron Kopchik. She also leaves her sisters and a brother-in-law, Margaret Cudilo, Clinton, Jean Garlinghouse, Rome, Elaine Kowalsky, New Hartford, Ann and Bob Nicholson, Rome; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister Mary Stellato.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at St. John the Baptist Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Burial will be at St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St. on Monday from 4-7 p.m.
