Nancy A. Spadafora Nancy A. Spadafora, 73, of Rome, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2013 at Rome Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family. Nancy was born on July 27,1940 in Rome, NY. She was the daughter of the late Anthony (Red) and Mary Gattari Spadafora. Nancy was a graduate of the Rome Free Academy Class of 1958. She attended SUNY Geneseo where she majored in Library Science. She began her career as a librarian in Schenectady, NY. Nancy retired after 33 years in the New Hartford Central School District. A lifelong member of St. John the Baptist Church, she volunteered on various committees, most recently the card ministry. She was an active member of the reunion committee for the RFA Class of 1958, New Hartford Retired Teachers Association, Alpha Chi Chapter of DKG and the Wednesday Morning Club. Tradition and family were very important to Nancy. She enjoyed the many travels and adventures shared with her sister. Nancy loved social and family gatherings, especially when she was involved in the organizing. Nancy is survived by her sister Gail M. Spadafora, an Uncle, John Gattari, and various cousins including, Victor Gattari, Richard Frasca, Barbara Frasca Shortslef, Jane Ferlo Bancroft, Barbara Ferlo Duchesneau and their families. Also surviving, are her many godchildren and several dear friends including Liz, Marie, the club group and the reunion committee. She was predeceased by aunts and uncles, Emma Spadafora, Dominick (Lindy) and Josephine Gattari and Enrico and Lena Frasca. Funeral Services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at St. John the Baptist Church, 200 E. Dominick St. in Rome, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio. Burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W.
