Obituary of Tony Mesagna

Tony 'Ziti' Mesagna, Jr. Tony "Ziti" Mesagna, Jr., 83, of Rome, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2013, at Rome Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his family. He was born in Rome, NY on April 26,1930, a son of the late Anthony and Lucy (Palmadesso) Mesagna. Mr. Mesagna served his country proudly in the US Air Force and retired after many years of service at Griffiss Air Force Base. He also worked in maintenance at the Rome Mall Apartments. Tony was a communicant of St. John the Baptist Church and was a former member of the American Legion and the Steczko Post. Surviving are his two brothers and a sister-in-law, Pasquale "Pat" Mesagna of Rome, and Rocco and Evelyn Mesagna of Sylvan Beach; his fiancee, Jeanette A. Cantarano and her children, Susan, Teresa and Joseph and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews, especially acknowledging, Simon and Colleen Koenig. Also, surviving is his sister-in-law, Linda Mesagna of Utica. He was predeceased by two brothers, Jack Mesagna and Joseph Mesagna; four sisters, Frances Galluppi, Rose DeProspero, Anna Sanchez and Beatrice Cook.
