Robert M. Carpenter Robert M. Carpenter, 81, of Rome, passed away Friday, December 13, 2013, at Rome Memorial Hospital Residential Healthcare Facility. He was born in Rome, NY, on October 4, 1932 son of the late Milton J. and Phyllis M. Falcone Carpenter. Bob attended Rome Schools. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War, being stationed in Germany. On March 25, 1956 he married Dorothy Sjoblom, in Sherrill, NY. Mr. Carpenter was owner and operator, with his wife, of the former B + W Television Sales and Service. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, life member of Rome Elks Club and member of the former Friendly Card Players Club. Bob was an avid hunter, bagging many bucks over the years. He enjoyed many years at his hunting property in Munnsville, lovingly referred to as "Funs"ville. Surviving besides his loving and devoted wife of fifty seven years, Dorothy, are four sons and a daughter-in-law, Douglas and Deborah Carpenter, Rome, Robert M. Carpenter, Jr., FL, Cary L. Carpenter and Cathy Hummer, Rome, Scott Carpenter and Linda Oyer, Rome; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jean and Rick Seifert, Rome, Betty and Wayne McCulloch, Fairhope, AL; eleven grandchildren, Diane, Rusty, Amanda, Stephanie, Lindsey, Kyle, Paige, Morgan, AnnJulie, Jina and Marissa; nine great grandchildren; Michael, Olivia, Matthew, Wesley, Conner, Aspen, Carter, Samuel and Kane. Also surviving, are two brothers and a sister-in-law, James Carpenter, Blossvale, Milton "Junior" and Deborah Carpenter, Rome; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Jennie and Joseph Ross, AL, Eleanor and Michael Maugeri, FL, Mary "Dolly" and Fred Scaccia, Rome and Frances Spangler, Rome, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Nancy Hopkins. The family would like to express a special thank you to Rome Memorial Hospital Residential Healthcare Facility and especially Dr.'s Nicoletta Tallandini and Anthony Cotronea, along with Nana, Tina, Alisha, Bridget, Christine, Crystal, Erica, Samantha, Amanda and Kristina. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church. Burial will be in Rome Cemetery. Friends may call at the Nicholas J.
