Sam J. Myers
Sam J. Myers, 82, of Rome passed away Thursday, January 02, 2014 at home. He was born in Rome, NY, on May 11, 1931 son of the late Sam and Anna Peraino Myers. Sam graduated from Rome Free Academy Class of 1950. He served with the US Army. On September 5, 1953, he married Catherine M. Storace in St. John the Baptist Church. She passed away May 12, 1986. Mr. Myers retired from Rome Cable Corp. Sam owned a janitorial business for many years, serving many small businesses, including D'Archangelo & Clark. He was a member of St. Paul's Church and the Patrician Dance Club.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Anna Marie and Hossein Jafari, St. Louis, MO, Catherine and Ferrell Taffner, Rome, and a son Sam Myers III, Rome; five grandchildren David Jafari, Ramin and his wife Leslie Jafari, Samantha Taffner, Kristopher Taffner and his girlfriend Mae DeBruin, Sam Myers IV and his girlfriend Jenna Manna and a great granddaughter Addie Jafari.
Sam is reunited with his love Catherine "Kay" and dancing in heaven for eternity. "Cha, Cha, Cha."
The family would like to express a special thank you to Hospice Care and "Dad's Girls". They were truly his "angels".
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:45 a.m. from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St. and at St. Paul's Church at 10:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 - 5 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care Inc., 4277 Middle Settlement Rd., New Hartford, NY, 13413.
