Ethan H. Seymour
Ethan H. Seymour, 89, of Rome, passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2014. He was born in Rome, N.Y., on February 25, 1924, a son of the late E. Bernard and Anna M. Bower Seymour. Ethan graduated from Rome Free Academy Class of 1942 and graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology in 1948. He was married to the late former Reba Pugh. Mr. Seymour served as a Tech. Sergeant during World War II with the 94th Bomb Group 410th Squadron, 8th Air Force with 25 missions over Europe, and received the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with three OLC, Purple Heart, ETO with four stars and WWII Victory Medal.
Mr. Seymour retired as a Manager of Systems and Software from Rome Cable Corp. where he was a forty year employee. He was Past Commander of the American Legion Post 404, Vernon; life member of the DAV and 94th Bomb Group Memorial Association, Rome Art and Community Center, Rome Art Association, where he served as past treasurer, Utica Art Association, Art Guild of Old Forge, Rome Photography Society, Westmoreland Golf Club, BPOE Elks Rome Lodge No. 96, Rome Historical Society, Eighth Air Force Historical Society and AARP. Ethan was an avid hunter, fly fisherman and fly tier.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Ashley and Connie Seymour, Boise, ID, Kevin and Sue Seymour, Edgewater, FL, a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Seymour and Brian Murphy, Ft. Lauderdale, FL, a brother, Jason Seymour, FL, six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews and a dear friend, Gilda J. Lucci, Rome. He was predeceased by a son, Myles N. Seymour, who passed away in 2010, a brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Marion Seymour, and a sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Dr. Clyde Corr.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc. 218 W. Court St., Military burial will be at St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Rome Art and Community Center, 308 W.
