Stanley L. LaFave , 80, of Rome, entered into rest on Sunday, November 5, 2006 at Rome Memorial Hospital after a long illness. He was born in Massena, NY on January 1, 1926, son of the late Andrew and Nellie Potter LaFave. Stanley served with the U.S. Army during World War II from 1941 to 1945. On December 17, 1950, he married Thelma May Gilboy in Lee Center. She passed away June 2, 1992. Mr. LaFave was employed at Griffiss Air Force Base as a civilian policeman. He retired in June 1986 from Marcy Psychiatric Center as a cook.


Surviving are a cherished grandson, Jason Stosal and his girlfriend, Michelle Crossett, and her daughter, Kassandra, a daughter, Dawn Mativesko, a step son, Joseph B. LaRue, all of Rome; a step daughter, Diane LaRue, Colorado; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers and a sister.


Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc. 218 W. Court St, on Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. Burial in Rome Cemetery. Services are private. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
