Benjamin "Old Soldier" Edick Jr.
Benjamin "Old Soldier" Edick Jr., 82, of Rome, passed away Friday, December 22, 2006 at Rome Memorial Hospital with his family at his side.
He was born in Rome, NY on September 26, 1924 a son of the late Benjamin and Pauline Henderson Edick. Ben served with the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II. On July 1, 1951, he married Dorothy Swinney in Rome. She passed away in March, 1985. Mr. Edick retired from Mohawk Valley Wholesale Grocery and Browns Taxi.
Surviving are his children, Benjamin III and Cheryl Edick, Oneida; Corinne Arredondo, Belinda Sanfilippo and Glenn Tebo, Andrea Edick, Tara and Mike Brockway, Richard and Karen Edick, Eric Edick, and Lori Brockway, Shaun and Lauri Edick, Heather Edick and Brian LeGrand, all of Rome; 23 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Audrey Edick, New Hartford; and Frank and Mary Edick, Rome; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Allison Edick, his twin sister Jean, and sisters Helen, Barbara and Elizabeth, and two brothers, Ron and Howard "Gus".
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home Inc., 218 W. Court St. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family.
