Paul S. Wellman, 80, of Rome, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2007, at Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born in Edmeston, N.Y. on March 13, 1926, son of the late Raymond and Elsie Shaw Wellman. Paul served with the U.S. Army during World War II participating in the Battle of the Bulge. He received the Army of Occupation Medal, EAME Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. On July 2, 1955, he married Josephine G. Marino in Rome. She passed away on January 17, 1983. Mr. Wellman retired in 1996 from Nolan Products after 37 years of employment. He was a member of H.P. Smith Post 24 American Legion.




Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Sara and William G. Young, Rome; four grandchildren, Michele and spouse, Jody Morgan, Tully, N.Y., Michael Young, Cooperstown, Mark and his spouse, Mariko Young, Olympia, Wash., Mathew Young, Rome; three great grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Hannah and Jake Morgan. Also surviving are sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Betty and Joseph Griffo, Rome, Robert VanDusen, California, and Marie Corzine, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Howard, and a sister, Irene.




Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the NICHOLAS J. BUSH FUNERAL HOME, INC., 218 W. Court St. Burial will be in St. Johns Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
