Helen C. Sanzone DiCastro
Helen C. Sanzone DiCastro, 93, of Rome, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2007. She was born in Albany, N.Y. on August 19, 1913, daughter of the late Victor C. and Filomena Fasciani. Helen was educated in Albany schools. On July 13, 1941 she married Frank P. Sanzone in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Albany. He passed away April 18, 1975. She later married Ralph J. DiCastro on August 29, 1981 in St. John the Baptist Church. He passed away September 28, 1990. Helen retired in 1983 as co-owner and operator of the former Sanzone's Pharmacy on North James Street which opened in 1943. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, Ava Dorfman Senior Citizen Center, and Rome Women of the Moose.
Surviving are a sister-in-law, Marilyn Giannini, Rome; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Anthony, Americo, Albert, and Victor Giannini.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:45 a.m. from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., and at St. John the Baptist Church, at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in St. Johns Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
