Michael S. Sayko Michael S. Sayko, 56, formerly of Rome, passed away Monday, March 19, 2007 in Cumberland, Md. He was born in Rome, N.Y. on June 21, 1950, son of Steven and Margaret Rotolo Sayko. Michael was educated in Rome schools and received a bachelor of arts degree from Frostburg University, Frostburg, Md. He served with the U.S. Army and did a tour of duty in Korea. Michael was a former postal worker with the U.S. government. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Michael enjoyed fishing, camping and golfing. He enjoyed watching sports on TV, especially golf and football and was a Baltomore Ravens fan. Michael loved his family very much and loved to eat, especially his moms potatoes and eggs. He was a very strong and brave person even when confronted with serious illness. Surviving besides his mother, Margaret, are two sisters and brother-in-law, Diane and Don Cardiff, Sandra Minsaas, all of Rome; nieces and nephews, Shelley Bartolotti, Utica, Kimberley and husband Mark Rubin, Florida, Steven and wife Susan Minsaas, North Bay, and David Minsaas, Rome; grand nieces and nephews, Carley, Spencer, Samantha and Brandon. Also surviving are aunts and uncles, Henry and Stephanie Rotolo, Jack and Frances Rotolo, Marie Rotolo, all of Rome, and many cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Steven Sayko, and aunts and uncles, Angelo and Martha Rotolo, Nick and Adeline Rotolo, Tom and Edna Rotolo, and Sam Rotolo, and cousins, Augie Rotolo and Salvatore Rotolo. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 8:15 a.m. from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St. and at St. John the Baptist Church at 9:00 A.M. Burial will be in St. Johns Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 4-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 100 Lomond Court, Utica, N.Y. 13502.
