Philip D'Arrigo Philip D'Arrigo, 84, of 513 E. Linden St. Rome, NY, passed away peacefully on Saturday June 2, 2007 at home. He was born in Syracuse, NY on February 7, 1923 son of the late Gaetano and Josephine Timilione D'Arrigo. Mr. D'Arrigo served at the age of 17 at the CCC Camp in Attica, NY. Phil served with the US Navy during World War II, where he attended aircraft naval air tech training school. He also served with the combat aircraft service unite in Okinawa until September 1945. On November 26, 1949 he married Antoinette Nettie DiCastro in St. John the Baptist Church. She passed away July 12, 2006. Mr. D'Arrigo retired in 1982 from Griffiss Air Force Base as an aircraft Sheet Metal Inspector. Phil was also employed as a maintenance superintendent for the New York State Fair at the International Food building. He was also co-owner and operator of Hotel DiCastro in Sylvan Beach. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, American Legion, and Toccolana Club. Surviving are three daughters, JoAnn D'Arrigo and special friend Glenn Goord, Mountaindale, NY; Cynthia Lamascola and special friend Patrick Pirillo; Karyn and her husband, Carl Urtz, all of Rome; five grandchildren, Guy D'Arrigo, Michael Lamascola, Philip Urtz, Hannah Urtz, and Jonathan Pirillo; a brother and sister-in-law; Cosmo and Ida D'Arrigo, Syracuse, NY; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Carmela Fernandez, Lakeland, NY, Mary Nettie and Floyd Davis, Clay, NY, Grace and Don Healy, Camilus, NY, and Lorita and Bill Norton, Oregon. Also surviving are sisters-in-law; Phyllis D'Arrigo and Teresa D'Arrigo, both of Syracuse, NY, and several nieces and nephews including a very special niece Angela Previte and a cousin Josie Timilione. He was predeceased by a sister, Theresa Polomino; three brothers, Emilio, Joseph, and John D'Arrigo; a son-in-law, Steve Lamascola; and three brothers-in-law, Joseph Fernandez, John Barilla, and Nick Polomino. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 am at St. John the Baptist Church where relatives and friends are invited to attend. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home Inc. 218 W. Court St. Rome on Monday from 4-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care, Michael J. Fox Foundation, Oneida County Office for the Aging, or the Alzheimers Association. The family would like to express a special thank you to Hospice caregivers and staff, Cathie Lees Homecare staff, Sister Rosaire Ann DeMare and co-workers of the Sheet Metal Shop in Hangar 101 at GAFB during his working years for the special memories.
