Obituary of Joe R. Hardin

Joe R. Hardin , 67, of Rome, passed away Friday, June 8, 2007, at home with his loving family at his side after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on January 18, 1940, son of Ben and Louise Rippy Hardin. Joe graduated from Isaac Litton High School, Nashville. He served with the United States Air Force on July 5, 1960, being honorably discharged July 2, 1964. On April 11, 1964, he married RoseMarie Bommarito in Rome, a blessed union of 43 years. Mr. Hardin was currently employed at Rome Research Lab in the Tech Library. He retired from Chicago Pneumatic Tool Company in 1999 as a computer system analyst. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and Henry P. Smith Post 24 American Legion.
Surviving besides his wife RoseMarie are three sons and a daughter-in-law, Joe Jr. and Laura Hardin, Jeffrey Hardin, all of Rome, and David Hardin, Virginia; three grandchildren, Kimberly, Mackenzie and Christopher Hardin. Also surviving are a brother, Jack Hardin, Nashville, Tennessee; a sister-in-law, Virginia Rovall, Rome; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother and father, Ben and Louise Hardin, a nephew, Ken Hardin; mother-in-law, Mary Bommarito; and a brother-in-law, Ronald Rovall.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 8:15 a.m. from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., and at St. John the Baptist Church at 9:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. Marys Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Care, 4277 Middle Settlement Road, New Hartford, NY 13413.
