Joseph Iozzo, of Rome, passed away Tuesday, January 22, 2008. He was born in Chiaravalle, Calabria, Italy, son of the late Joseph and Maria Tino Iozzo. Joseph served in the Italian Army with the Allied Forces during World War II. On April 16, 1949 he married Marianna "Anna" Pitaro in Chiaravalle, Italy. They came to America in 1950 and settled in Rome, N.Y. Mr. Iozzo was employed as a Mercedes Benz mechanic at McLoughlin Motors for 35 years. He was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Church. Surviving besides his wife, Anna, are a son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Marcianne Iozzo, New Hartford, N.Y.; a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Richard Worlock, Rome; a granddaughter and grandson, Stephanie and Eric Iozzo; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Libby Iozzo, Rome, N.Y., Antonio and Silvana Iozzo, Messena, Italy; two sisters, Teresa Sacco, Waverly, N.Y. and Nancy Chieferi, Chiaravalle, Italy. Also surviving are a special niece, Anna Marie Spence and her family, Alpharetta, Georgia; and a special nephew, Tony Iozzo and family, Syracuse, N.Y.; and several other nieces and nephews in Italy. The family would like to express a special thank you to Dr. DiMarco and staff for their care and compassion. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, where friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in St. Johns Cemetery. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., on Friday from 4-7 p.m.
