Eleanor "Granny" Blanche Butler Eleanor "Granny" Blanche Butler, 83, a resident of Masonic Care Community, Amherst Household, and previously of Marcy, NY, and formerly of Redwood City, CA, passed away Friday, March 14,2008, at Masonic Care Community. She was born in Klammath Falls, OR, on January 4,1925, daughter of the late Lowell and Mildred Lewis Ager. Eleanor grew up in the Weyerhauser Camps in Klammath Falls, OR. She later moved to Los Angeles during World War II and was an airplane riveter in support of the war effort. Eleanor was married to Paul Butler and later to Larry Cain, both of whom predeceased her. She spent more than 20 years in Redwood City, CA, as a copy typist for a publisher and then went on to finish another career in Social Services, retiring from the San Mateo County Social Services in 1986. Eleanor moved to New York State in 1998 to be closer to her son, Daniel. Eleanor was an avid reader, enjoying Mystery novels. She also enjoyed playing Scrabble with family and friends, and prided herself as being a staunch 49er fan. Eleanor enjoyed visiting the Japanese Tea Gardens in San Francisco, CA, and had a passion for lemon meringue pie,Crab Louie's and maple bars.She learned to E-mail and surf the internet, and spent lots of time emailing her aunt.Eleanor was a rare woman; she hated shopping. She will be deeply missed by her long- haired Chihuahua, Baxter. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Sharon Cain, Marcy NY; a daughter and son in-law, Bonnie and Douglas Kennedy, Cambridge, England; grandchildren, Michael Cain, Marcy, NY, Nicole, Lauren and Tom Kennedy, Cambridge, England. Steven Cain, Burns, OR and Michele Cain, Grants Pass, OR.great-grandchildren, Tristan and Treyton Cain, Grants Pass, OR. Also surviving are aunts, Ellen Elder, Chino Hills, CA and Bonnie Conrad,Albuquerque, New Mexico; and a special friend, Jane Ferrero, Redwood City,CA.She was predeceased by a sister Ruth Ingeman. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff and Social Services of Amherst Household at Masonic Care Community for their loving care and compassion. There are no services or calling hours. Arrangements are by the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., Rome.
