Ann Sega, 89, of Rome, passed away Saturday, August 9, 2008, at Bethany Gardens. She was born in Loamis Park, PA, on July 3, 1919, daughter of the late Jan and Victoria Evan Czarnecki. Ann was educated in the Nanticoke, PA schools,and moved to Rome in 1937. She worked as a cashier at the Capitol Theatre. On April 26, 1941, she married Gregory Sega in Transfiguration Church. He passed away February 27, 2001. In 1944, they owned and operated Greggs Center for 49 years. Ann was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, where she was one of the first woman Eucharistic ministers. Mrs. Sega was also on the parish council, president of the Mother of Christ Sodality, president of the Legion of Mary, president of Advocates of the Immaculate Conception and also a minister to the sick at Rome Hospital. Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law,Gayle and Henry Bush, Rome, Mary Beth and Michael Fautt, California, Kathy and Paul Katchmar, Ava; two sons and daughters-in-law,Gregory and Vicki Sega, Oneida, Jan and Connie Sega, Holland Patent; seven grandchildren, Andrew Sega and Teri Johnen, both of Chicago, Michael Bush, Manhattan, Samantha Fautt and Gregory Fautt, both of California, Alexandra Katchmar and Joseph Katchmar, both of Ava; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Hughes, and a brother, Benjamin Czarnecki. The family would like to thank Dr. Todd Podkowka and the entire staff of Bethany Gardens for their exceptional care. Her funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, at 9:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, where relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in St. Johns Cemetery. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Church for the upkeep of the church bells which she enjoyed hearing.
