Norman D. Schreiber Norman D. Schreiber, 80, of Rome, passed away, Monday, June 23, 2014, at Upstate University Hospital, Syracuse after a brief illness. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on February 3, 1934, son of the late Norman J. and Lillian Diemer Schreiber. Norm graduated from Bishop Duffy High School in Niagara Falls. In 1953 he joined the United States Air Force, retiring as a Master Sergeant, in 1974. He also was employed by Northrup Aircraft, retiring in 1994. Norm was an accomplished award winning oil painting artist. He enjoyed cooking, dancing, playing piano and bowling in several leagues at Mohawk Lanes. Norm loved his New York Yankees and New York Giants. Surviving are the "Love of His Life" Sandy (Caruso) Coppage, Rome, three sons and daughters-in-law, Greg and Donna Schreiber, Dan and Stephanie Schreiber all of Oklahoma City, OK, Brett and Sue Schreiber , Mendon, MO, a daughter and son-in-law, Lilian and Ted Herper, Camden, NY, grandchildren; Kyle, Nicole, Chase, Wyatt and Silas, a brother, Peter Schreiber, Franklynville, NY, a sister, Karol Zgonce, Henrietta, NY and several nieces and nephews, and the second love of his life, his dog Schultz. Also surviving are Sandy's children, Dawn Gavinelli, Staten Island, NY, and Vinny Coppage, Spring, TX. A special thank you to Colleen and Earl Arnold, for helping Sandy through this difficult time. Sandy, "I had the time of my life!" Funeral Services will be held on Friday, at 10:15 a.m. from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., and at St. John the Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
