Obituary of Casimir S. Deutschman

Casimir "Cas" S. Deutschman Casimir "Cas" S. Deutschman, 92, of Rome, went home to the Lord on Monday, June 30, 2014. He was born February 14, 1922 son of the late, Peter and Rose (Warszeszek) Deutschman in Auburn, NY. Cas attended Auburn Schools graduating in June 1940. He enlisted in the Army September 1940. hi 1942 he transferred to the Air Force and was assigned to the 348th squadron and B-17 Fortress. He made 35 missions in combat areas in France and Germany during WWII. Cas was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross Air Medal, 4 Oak Leaf Clusters and a Presidential Citation for outstanding performance under difficult conditions. He mustered out in September of 1945. On August 3, 1946 he married the love of his life, Rose Esposito, in Rome NY, at St. John the Baptist Church. Cas and Rose shared 67 blessed years together. He and his wife settled in the Utica area in 1952 where he was employed by Brunners in Utica. After the closure of Brunners he went to work for General Electric, from which he retired from in 1982. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed all sports. Cas will be and is sorely missed by his family. In addition to his wife, Rose, he is survived by his three beloved children, Madelyn (Bill) Genovesi, NC, Peter (Carol) Deutschman, VA and Mary Rose Deutschman (John Foley), Rome; two dearly loved grandchildren, Adam (Jamie) Keller and Kaitlyn Keller; and three dearly loved great grandchildren, Xavier Connors, Darcie Coston and Lila Coston. Also surviving are a sister, Agnella "Nellie" Michalowski and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved grandson, Matthew Scott Genovesi; three brothers, Henry, Theodore and Steve; two sisters, Helen and Victoria. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, at 10:30 a.m., from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., and at St. John the Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m., for a Mass of Christian Burial, with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
