Velma J. Curtis
Velma J. Curtis, 65, of Rome, passed away, Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at home. She was born in Rome, NY, on April 8, 1949, daughter of the late Herbert and Rita Hyde Marshall. Velma attended Rome Schools. She married Ronald F. Curtis, Sr., in Rome, a union of over 40 years. Velma was a former employee of Turning Stone Casino.
Surviving besides her husband, Ron, Sr., are four sons, Ronald Jr., and his wife Kelly Curtis, Osceola, James Curtis and his companion Mary Groth, Rome, Tony and his wife Teresa Curtis, Kissimee, FL, Gerald Curtis and his companion Carla Greany, Oneida, a daughter, Sherry and her husband Steve Allen, Rome, several grand and great grandchildren. Also surviving are five sisters and four brothers-in-law, Laurie and Craig Come, Lee Center, Louise and Norman Paddleford, Marcy, Theresa and Randy Vetter, Taberg, Norma and Jan Jarvis, Rome, BillieJo Marshall, Westmoreland; three brothers and a sister-in-law Herbert and Susan Marshall, Jerry Marshall and Leonard Marshall all of Rome, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father and mother, Herbert and Rita Marshall, father-in-law and mother-in-law Bernard and Pearl Curtis, a granddaughter, Mickey Curtis, a sister Janet Apgar, two brothers Fred and James Marshall and two nieces Jackie Marshall and Melissa Metott.
