Vincent A. Giardino Vincent A. Giardino, 80. a resident of Rome Nursing Home, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2003 at Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born in Rome on May 13, 1922 a son of the late David and Josephine DeGrazia Giardino. Vincent served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the 43rd Signal Corps. On July l, 1955 he married Helen Neri in Old Forge, N,Y. Mr. Giardino was a former employee at Griffiss Air Force Base and was a former construction worker in the area. He was a member of VFW Post #2246. Surviving besides his wife, Helen are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Paul and Theresia Giardino, Whitesboro, Carmen Giardino, Florida; a daughter, Veronica Sanchez, Utica; nine grandchildren including, Shawn,Tim, Caitiin and Michael; three great-grandchildren, Alessandra Marie, Karyn and. William; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Anthony Giardino Sr., Rochester, N.Y., Albert and Josephine Giardino, Louis and Marie Giardino, of Rome; a sister, Marge Catone, Rochester; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter. Elizabeth Ann Mezza, a brother, Santo Giardino, and three sisters, Maggie Ciotti, Matilda Uriarte and Rose Marasco. The family would like to express a special thank you to his nephew Anthony Giardino Jr. and his niece, Angie Sweet who always stopped to visit him when in Rome. Also, a special thank you to the staffs of Rome Nursing Home and Rome Memorial Hospital. Military funeral services will be held on Monday at 9:30 a.m. St. John's Cemetery Chapel. Interment in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., W Court St., on Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m.
