Julia R. DeProspero
Julia R. DeProspero, 96, of Rome, passed away on Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Rome Memorial Hospital Residential Health Care Facility. She was born in Rome, NY, on January 26, 1918 the daughter of the late Francisco and Chiara Carrado Cortese. Julia was educated in Rome Schools. In 1943 she was united in marriage to Aldo J. DeProspero in St. John the Baptist Church. Mr. DeProspero passed away on September 30, 1971. Julia was employed with Carl's Drugs, retiring in 1986 and in 1990 became a volunteer Foster Grandmother in the Rome Schools. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony and Linda DeProspero, Rome, Alan and Paula DeProspero, Enfield, CT, two grandchildren, Michael DeProspero, Rome and Mark and his wife Marie DeProspero, MO, two great grandchildren, Cassandra and Dominic DeProspero, a sister-in-law, Patricia DeProspero, Rome and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters; Angie George, Jennie Rondinelli, and Rose Feole, three brothers; Joseph, James, and Michael (Nick) Cortese.
The family would like to express a special thank you to all the staff at Rome Memorial Hospital Health Care Facility and all participants of the Foster Grandmother Program especially Mrs. Gray.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, December 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St., with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating, where relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
