Louis C. DeGeorgio Sr. Louis C. DeGeorgio, Sr., 79, of Cleveland, N.Y., passed away Monday, April 27, 2009 at home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Rome, N.Y. on July 17,1929, son of the late Salvatore and Mary Dursi DeGeorgio. Lou graduated from Rome Free Academy. He served with the U.S. Army from 1949 to 1952, receiving a Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Purple Heart, Korean Service Medal and Army of Occupation Medal, Japan. On April 19,1952, he married the love of his life, Lucy Corigliano, in St. John the Baptist Church. She passed away September 24, 1990. Lou was a former employee at Griffiss Air Force Base. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Lou enjoyed spending time with his friends at the McDonald's Coffee Club. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Louis Jr. and Cele DeGeorgio, Marcy; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Dennis Yacobelli, Marcy, Nancy and Bob Burroughs, Oriskany; eight grandchildren, Kim and her husband Paul Harvey, Ann and her husband Kevin Barry, Kristen DeGeorgio, Katherine DeGeorgio, Melissa Smaldon, Matthew Smaldon and Robert Burroughs; and six great grandchildren. Also surviving is a very close and loving brother, Sam DeGeorge, Rome; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Rose DeAgazio and Kay Gerrace. Military funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church. Burial will be held in St. John's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are by the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St.
