Obituary of Albert E. DeGrazio

Albert E. DeGrazio, 89, of Rome, passed away Monday, April 27, 2009, at University Hospital, Syracuse. He was born in Rome, N.Y. on January 2, 1920, son of the late John and Angeline DeProspero DeGrazio. Al attended Rome Schools. On August 30, 1941 he married Hilda Albanese in St. Agatha's Church, Canastota. She passed away March 8, 1991. Mr. DeGrazio was a former employee of Bruno Novelty Company, Canastota, and the former Vesuvio's Restaurant, Rome. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons, John DeGrazio, East Syracuse, and Robert DeGrazio, Syracuse; three grandchildren, Donna DeGrazio, Lisa and her husband Alfredo Lopez, all of East Syracuse, Kristin and her husband Mark Paskanik, Cary, N.C.; five great grandchildren, Marina and Joshua Lopez, Tyler, Collin and Jaiden Paskanik; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph and Eva DeGrazio and Amelio "Miller" DeGrazio, all of Rome, Elia Emerson and Verna Albanese, both of Canastota; several nieces and nephews; and a loving canine friend, "Fletcher". He was predeceased by two brothers, Anthony DeGrazio and Paul DeGrazio, and three sisters, Margaret DeGrazio, Sandina Mancini and Marie Esposito. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church where friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to Rome Humane Society, 6247 Lamphear Road, Rome, N.Y. 13440.
