Salvatore Page Salvatore Page, 92, of Rome, passed away Friday, May 22, 2009, at Betheny Gardens. He was born in Rome, N.Y. on March 30, 1917, son of the late Anthony and Josephine Mancuso Page. Salvatore graduated from Rome Free Academy. He served with the U.S. Army during World Was II, in the European Theater. On April 14, 1951, he married Eva Carpenter, who has since passed away. Mr. Page retired after 40 years as a practical nurse from the former Oneida County Hospital. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Surviving are two sisters, Dolores Oppito and Grace Page, a sister-in-law, Bert Carpenter, all of Rome. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Genevieve and her husband Frank Combopiano, Josephine James, Anthony and his wife Marie Laufer, Anita and her husband Peter Zakala, Camille and her husband Richard Bjork, Minnesota, and Thomas and his wife Nadine Oppito, Rome; and several great grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Katherine Laufer and Margaret Mastrangelo, and three brothers, James Page, D. Donald Page and Joseph A. Page. The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of the fifth floor of Bethany Gardens, for their care and compassion extended to Salvatore. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc. 218 W. Court St., and at St. John the Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
