Rosemary (Agostino) Hoey
Rosemary (Agostino) Hoey, 67, of Rome entered into peace and rest on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Rome Memorial Hospital Residential Health Care Facility. She was born in Rome, NY on September 21, 1947 daughter of the late Frank and Antoinette Ross Agostino. Rosemary was affectionately known as the "Last Rose of Summer". She attended Rome City Schools and was a graduate of RFA Class of 1965. In November of 1965 she met the love of her life and best friend forever, Richard A. Hoey. They were married on December 10, 1966 in Keen, NH and enjoyed forty-eight plus years together.
Family, friends, holidays and good times were always something that Rosemary wanted and did, as these were the values she was given by her wonderful parents. Being of Catholic Faith and a member of St. John the Baptist Church, and a true believer in the "Lord", Rosemary took every day of her life as a day in the Peace of the Lord. She never had a bad thought, word or deed to say about anyone. Rosemary never complained about her own problems or illnesses ever, but took them as a blessing from the Lord.
Rosemary began her working career at King Pin Lanes, the original Holiday Inn, in Rome, waitressing at Vinci's Restaurant , Rome City Hospital (food service), Day Care in her home, McDonald's (Community Relations Manager) and retired in April 2003 from NYS DDSO as a Therapy Aide.
Surviving besides Dick, her devoted husband and best friend, a daughter Kelly H. Edick, two grandsons; Daniel M. Edick and Benjamin R. Edick, a son and daughter-in-law, Richard F. and Chrissy (Fiaschetti) Hoey, a sister, Judith A. Wimett, nephews; Michael Wimett and Daniel Wimett all of Rome. Also surviving are numerous other relatives in the Rome and Florida areas, also special friends of the family; Rick, Marianne and Nicholas Arsenault, Karen Bielby and Jeffery Blouin.
The family wishes to express a special thank you to all the wonderful medical and professional staff, including Dr.'s Cotronea and Tallidini, Rome Memorial Hospital Residential Health Care Facility third floor staff, who have assisted her care and comforted her during this most difficult time. Also, a thank you for all the visits from friends and family, the flowers and cards that came daily to brighten Rosemary's emotions, right up to the end.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick St., where relatives and friends are invited to attend, with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. In keeping with her wishes there will be "No Calling Hours" at the funeral home, but the family will receive friends from 12:45 to 1:30 p.m., prior to the Mass.
