Obituary of Gregory George

Gregory George Gregory George, 98, of Rome, passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2015 at Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born in Rome, NY, on May 2, 1917 son of the late Vincent and Angela Cortese George. Greg attended Rome Schools. On June 29, 1940, he married Pauline Cicconi in St. John the Baptist Church. She passed away June 9, 1986. Mr. George retired from the New York State School for the Deaf and was a former employee of General Cable. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and George Christopoulos, Rome, with whom he resided with for the past seventeen years, a son and daughter-in-law, Gregory P. and Barbara George, Rome, six grandchildren and their spouses; Michael and Sharon Guiliano, Parkland FL, Dyanna and David Gardinier, Rome, Joseph and Patricia Guiliano, Rome, Gregory and Erin George, OR, Suellen and Christopher Nutting, Farmington, NY, Kevin and Kristina George, Rochester, NY and nine great grandchildren; Michael, Steven, Annika, Christos, Alexander, Sofia, Alessandra, Sydney and Ian. Also surviving is a sister Catherine Amici, Rome and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Veronica Guiliano, two grandsons; John Paul Guiliano and Aaron Michael Guiliano who all passed away together on November 10, 1983. He was also predeceased by two brothers; Anthony George and Frank George, three sisters; Julia Ellinger, Mary Del Piano, and Clara Capponi. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9-10 a.m., Memorial Contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
