Assunda "Sue" C. (Malorzo) Ferlo
Assunda "Sue" C. (Malorzo) Ferlo, 91, of Rome passed away Saturday, January 16, 2016, at Rome Hospital with her family at her side. She was born in Rome, N.Y. on September 2, 1924 daughter of the late Luigi and Assunta (D'Argenio) Malorzo. Sue graduated from Rome Free Academy and continued her education at Morrisville College where she earned enough credits to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). On May 27, 1948, she married Joseph T. Ferlo, Jr. Mr. Ferlo passed away on October 29, 2011. Sue was a devout catholic and a longtime parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church where she was a member of the Marion Guild of St. John the Baptist Church and the Sodality of Our Lady also at the church. Her memberships also included the Ava Dorfman Senior Center, and the American Red Cross of Rome where she frequently volunteered for the blood mobiles. Sue loved to cook, creating many culinary specialties; she was happiest when she shared meals and laughter with her family and friends. Her radiant smile and outgoing personality will be sadly missed.
Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Carmen and Patricia Ferlo, David J. Ferlo, and Joseph A. III and Carolyn Trela Ferlo; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Larry Casalenuovo all of Rome; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Marc, and Matthew Ferlo, Amelia Casalenuovo and Nicholas Ferlo all of Rome. Also surviving are five great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and in-laws. Mrs. Ferlo was predeceased by two brothers, Litimo Malorzo and Rev. Luigi (Ottilio) Malorzo; and three sisters, Jenny Stromick, Felicia Cesari, and Louisa Mosicki.
