Samuel "Skip" J. Badolato
Samuel "Skip" J. Badolato, 91, of Rome passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born in Rome, N.Y. on November 27, 1924 son of the late Dominick and Mary Marasco Badolato. Skip graduated from Rome Free Academy. He served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theater during World War II. On July 4, 1959 he married Catherine Dwyer in St. John the Baptist Church. She passed away on January 12, 2008. Skip retired in 1988 from R.A.D.C., at Griffiss Air Force Base, as a photographer. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church. Skip was an avid and accomplished wood worker.
Surviving are three sons and a daughter-in-law; William and Tricia Badolato, Michael Badolato all of Rome, Thomas Badolato and Jaime Lau, Camillus, two daughters and sons-in-law; Lisa and Steven DeHimer, Rome, Mary Ann and Timothy Lasher, Niskayuna, N.Y., and fourteen grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother and sister-in-law, Francis "Doc" and Doris Badolato, Rome, sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law, Ann and Richard Clark, Marguerite Bombaski, all of Blossburg, PA., and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Cathy, a son, Sam Badolato and twin grandchildren Samuel and Alexandra Badolato, two brothers and a sister-in-law; Bernard Badolato and Dominick and Angie Badolato and a brother-in-law, Stanley Bombaski.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff of Bethany Gardens for their care and a special thank you to Deb Barber for her care and friendship; and to Caregivers and Independence Care.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 1, 2016 at 10:15 a.m., from the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc., 218 W. Court St. and at St. John the Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m., where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. Memorial Contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.
