Bridget T. Carletta
Bridget T. Carletta, 91, of Rome, gently went to the Lord on Monday, February 08, 2016. She was born in Rome, N.Y., on December 20, 1924 daughter of the late Nicholas and Catherine Marchese Mungari. She married Michael A. Carletta on February 28, 1942 in St. John the Baptist Church, a blessed union of 62 years, until his passing in 2004.
Bridget attended Rome Schools and although not graduating, she went on to earn her GED in later years which was something she was very proud of. Bridget was employed by the former Stonehedge Nursing Home and a past member of both the Mother of Christ Sodality and Marion Guild of St. John the Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and taking care of her family. Countless hours were spent with cooking holiday meals, Sunday dinners and baking Christmas cookies.
Surviving are three children and their spouses; Kathy and Bob Voisine, James and Michele Carletta all of Rome, Michael and Fran Carletta, Bluffton, S.C., six cherished grandchildren; Christopher and his fiancée Andrijana, Alexandra, Brandon and his wife Brittany, Michael, Anthony and Sara. Also surviving is a sister, Carmela Militello, Rome, one brother-in-law and three sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews, dear friends and neighbors. She was predeceased by two brothers, Rev Joseph Mungari and Lawrence Mungari, three sisters; Nettie, Rose and Fannie, also predeceased by several brothers and sisters-in-law.
The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Bethany Gardens for the kindness, care and compassion offered to Bridget. A special thank you goes to the fourth floor aides and nurses.
