PAUL B. OTTAVIO
Rome, New York – Paul B. Ottavio, 93, formerly of Calvert Street, Rome and most recently of Queensbury, New York passed away Tuesday June 28, 2016 at the Warren Center in Queensbury, surrounded by his family.
Born June 23, 1923 in Rome, New York, he was the eldest son of Carmello Ottavio and Louise( Pasquini) Ottavio . Paul was a lifelong resident of Rome. He attended public schools and graduated from Rome Free Academy as member of the Class of 1942. He was predeceased by his first wife Marguerite M. Ottavio in 1986. Paul was remarried to Stephanie G. Ottavio in 1987 and she most recently passed away on April 5, 2016.
During his working years Paul was employed at various industries in the City of Rome including Revere and Rome Cable. He also joined with his brothers in operating the Ottavio Brothers Texaco gasoline station. Paul is fondly remembered by many for his great smile as he was the man in a green cap and uniform, pumping your gas, checking your oil and cleaning your windshield and "you could trust your car to the man who wears the star!" As a young boy, only ten years old, Paul's father passed away. A kindly neighbor taught young Paul how to become a master gardener and throughout his lifetime he excelled at growing the best garden tomatoes, peppers and zucchini that kept neighbors, family and friends well fed every year at harvest time.
Paul was predeceased by his parents and his two brothers Guido Ottavio and Carmello L."Bucky" Ottavio all of Rome New York. He is survived by his nieces and a nephew: Lindalea (Michael) Muller of Queensbury, New York; Laverne(C. James) McAndrew of Kattskill Bay, New York; Paul (Joy) Ottavio of King George, Virginia; Lori (John) Anquilli of Rome, New York; Gloria (Hank) Kleaka of Rome, New York and Lisa (Kerry) Streeter of Clay, New York.
The family of Paul B. Ottavio wishes to express its gratitude for the loving concern and care he received while he was at the Warren Center at Queensbury, New York during the last few months of his long and bountiful life.
