I've re-lived the moment many times. It is 1957 and your Joe and I have won the Slingerland prize speaking contest held at Laurel St. School. Joe was a natural! I had to struggle. Henry Bush also spoke so well. Henry sat right in front of me in Home Room. So many years have passed and I'll always fondly remember this day at RFA when we were young. You are in my thoughts and prayers today. Very Best Wishes for peace and well being. Most sincerely, S.J.

Mr. Tosti (Joe) was a very important teacher for me at Canastota High School. The year must have been 1969-1970. He was informal and provocative. We had b]very interesting discussions. We used to call him "The Bear." A group of high school friends and I would drive to Rome to eat dinner at Tosti's steak house. It was a big deal for us. I think a group of us went there after our Senior Ball in 1970. I wrote an editorial in our High School paper about his quick "retirement" from Canastota High School that got me in a considerable amount of trouble. I had to meet with the Superintendent of Schools! Good-bye Mr. Tosti. You were very influential in my life. You taught me to think and behave outside the box. I love you!

It is so sad to read of your passing, Joe.
You were a stellar human being who always sought to help those in need. You went the extra mile to understand someone's life challenges . You listened.
Your desire to do the right thing, the better thing , made you stand out in this world.
Though it has been many years since we worked together and losing touch after retirement, I am still proud to say I loved knowing you and working with you. The families you worked with had the best of the best workers.
You didn't hesitate to speak your mind about what was needed in this world . You stood out because you were real. Not a shred of pretense. A genuinely solid spirit of goodness.
Rest in peace, Joe.
Know that you had a positive ripple effect on so many clients, co-workers, friends , the community and me.
My sincere condolences to your family .

My condolences to his wife and family. Joe was a great person and friend. Joe worked for me when he worked in the Rome services offices as a CPS worker. He knew how to make a stressful day interesting and could make me smile. He will be dearly missed. Rest east my dear friend Joe.
