Guy G. Rubino Guy G. Rubino, 91, of Rome, passed away peacefully August 12, 2009 at Watermark at Easthill Assisted Living in Southbury, CT. He was born in Rome, NY on August 30, 1917 son of the late Ralph and Jennie Valeo Rubino. Guy attended Rome schools and played football and baseball for Rome Free Academy and St. Aloysius Academy. On June 14, 1947, he married Flora Casbara in St. John the Baptist Church. In his teens, Mr. Rubino was employed at the Kent Manufacturing Company. His 49 year career as a Rome business man began in 1940 when he opened Rubino's Esso and Oil Service. In 1958, the partnership of Rubino and Pugliese was formed, handling a line of Travel Trailers and Motorhomes. For 31 years, Mr. Rubino and his partner served the community. Never at a loss for a story, joke or a helping hand, Mr. Rubino formed many lasting friendships throughout his career. Guy retired in 1989. Mr. Rubino was a member of St. Paul's Church. He was a former Oneida County Democratic Legislature for the 36th District, member of the Rome Elks Club, McConnellsville Country Club and Oneida Country Club. Mr. Rubino was inducted in the Rome Bowling Hall of Fame and belonged to several bowling Leagues. Surviving, besides his wife, Flora, are a son and daughter-in-law, Guy and Nancy Rubino, Southbury, CT; two daughters, Carol Zurat, Virginia, and Judy Cavanaugh, East Greenwich, RI; nine grandsons and a granddaughter, Kyle, Neil, Zachary, Daniel, Paul, Michael, Robert, Joel, Kenny, and Sarah. Also surviving are two brothers, Frank Rubino, San Diego, CA, and Anthony Rubino, Melbourne, FL; a sister, Angie Uvanni, Melbourne, FL. He was predeceased by a son- in-law, Michael Zurat, and three brothers, John, Sam, and Joseph Rubino. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Church where relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions to St. Pauls Church. Arrangements are by the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc. 218 W. Court St.
