Louise Pacelli Giardino Louise T. Giardino, 94, of Rome passed away Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Betsy Ross Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Rome, NY on May 5, 1915 daughter of the late Michael and Louise Semo Pacelli. A 1933 graduate of Rome Free Academy, Louise chose the Nursing Profession and graduated from Yonkers General Hospital in 1937. In 1939 she married Santo R. Giardino in St. John the Baptist Church. He passed away in 1978. Returning to Rome after graduation, Louise was a valued member of the nursing staff of Rome Memorial Hospital until her retirement in 1972. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, the Rome Red Cross, and the Ava Dorfman Senior Center. Louise also volunteered regularly at blood drives, the Erie Canal Village, and with the Rome Hospital Twigs. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Ricardo and Julie Giardino, San Jose, CA; a grandson, two granddaughters, two great-granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two daughters, Rita Giardino and Gail Giardino; three brothers, Michael, Lewis, and Paul Pacelli; and three sisters, Jennie Matteo, Theresa Yacco, and Rose Lisewski. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am at St. John the Baptist Church where relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 291 E. Dominick St. Rome, NY 13440. Arrangements are by the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home Inc. 218 W. Court St.
