Obituary of Jack J. Rotolo

Jack J. Rotolo, Sr., 95, of Rome, NY, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018, at Rome Memorial Residential Healthcare Facility, surrounded by his loving family. He was
born in Rome, NY, on March 24,1923, a son of the late Antonino and Caterina
Muscarella Rotolo. In his early years, Jack along with his parents and siblings operated a 90 acre produce farm in the Rome "mucklands" and later ran his own farm with his wife and children. Jack served with the U.S. Army 118th Engineer Combat Battalion during WWII, in the South Pacific Theater. On January 7,1956, he married the love of his life, Frances 'Chickie' Aiello. She passed away on January 31, 2008. Jack retired from Griffiss Air Force Base, Civil Engineering Division in 1984. Mr. Rotolo was a member of Transfiguration Church.
Surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jacqueline Favata, Margaret and David Bovi, Michele and Stephan Granacki, two sons and daughters-in-law, Jack Jr. and Julie (Wareham) Rotolo and Joseph and Shelley (Fragapane) Rotolo, six grandchildren; Jeremy and Emily (Lambert) Favata, Carly E. Bovi, Jack A. and Joelle M. Rotolo, Jack J. III, and Nicholas R. Rotolo, two great grandchildren Dominick and Hunter Favata and sister Margaret Sayko. Also surviving are sisters-in-law Stephanie Rotolo, Marie Rotolo and Frances Aiello and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son-in-law Dominick "Donnie" Favata, a sister Anna Storace, five brothers, Angelo, Nicholas, Tom, Sam, and Henry Rotolo.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Rome Hospital Residential Healthcare Facility – Bartlett Residence for the excellent care, love and compassion they showed to our father.
Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, April 20, 2018, 11:00 a.m. at Transfiguration Church, 111 Ridge St., with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Private Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
Arrangements are by the Nicholas J. Bush Funeral Home, Inc.,7751 Merrick Rd.
Memorial Contributions in Jack's memory may be made to the Rome Memorial Hospital Residential Healthcare Facility Activities Fund, 1500 N. James Street, Rome NY 13440.
