Obituary of Amy Lynn Recco
Please share a memory of Amy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Amy Lynn Recco, 45, of N. George St., Rome, lost her two year battle with cancer on Friday, June 1, 2018, while at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, with her loving parents by her side. Amy was born on a sunny and warm spring day at St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond, VA, on March 23,1973 daughter of Anthony M. Recco, Sr., and Sonja A. Serra Recco. She was a graduate of Rome Free Academy, Class of 1991. Amy worked at various nursing homes and hospitals as a Certified Nurses Assistant. She later decided she wanted to become a nurse, so she took a course at Rome BOCES and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Amy loved working with the elderly, the disabled and worked at DDSO in Rome until moving to Michigan in 2011. She loved driving, especially her Jeeps, which she had three or four. Amy was an avid shopper she never met a store she didn't like. She was a die-hard New York Yankees fan and Dave Matthews Band number one fan. Above all, Amy loved her family and life.
Amy leaves behind her father and mother, Tony and Sonja Recco, Rome, a brother and sister-in-law, Tony Jr., and Gina Jacobs Recco, Rome, two nieces and a nephew, Taylor, Maggie and Andrew Recco, of Rome, who she loved to the moon and back. Also surviving are several aunts, uncles and cousins. Amy leaves behind a very special friend, Andrew Jamison, of Northville, Michigan. She was predeceased by a sister, Reyne Lynn Recco.
The family would like to thank Dr. Alicia DeTraglia and her staff at the Regional Cancer Center in Utica and the staff of the sixth floor at St. Luke's Hospital for their care and compassion given to Amy during her stays there. Also a thank you to the staff on wing two and wing three at The Grand in Rome, for their exceptional care.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Michelle Adey Fund, 8572 Teugega Point Rd., Rome, NY 13440.
